Well...this California girl in Taos finds shoveling snow HARD!! hahah...but I feel so healthy and accomplished when finished. What a great workout. Sweeping and ironing (and folding clothes) are meditative for me, too! xo
I went in the other direction with ironing! I used to even iron the old linen sheets I bought in Portobello Rd market. that was in my 20s/30s. Now I can't be bothered to iron. I haven't quite worked out "the wrinkled look" as something chic and intentional, like your beautiful shirts, but most of the time it doesn't matter! I supposed I'm going for "distracted writer."
You probably get the same feelings of relaxed contentment hanging your linens on the clothesline as I do when ironing. There is something so peaceful about these simple tasks. I am now daydreaming about fresh bedsheets, dried outside. What a beautiful image. Shoot! Now I need to explore setting up a clothesline!!! xoxo
Because women have so much to do they never can 'enjoy' household tasks. They gotta get it done. If I iron I allow myself to watch anything on tv so i enjoy it. Iron a bit most days. I didn't learn how to really a shirt well until I was 50. Now I watch foreign things on tv. I can iron and read subtitles. Enjoying the little things. x
That was so true for my entire career. Plus, I thought I was "too cool" for housework. Now, ironing, folding laundry, gardening, organizing cupboards, etc., are pleasures. (But, cleaning house will NEVER be my jam!!) I tend to daydream about doing these projects. I will give your suggestion to watch interesting things via streaming a try! The little things are the best. xoxo
What clear starch /light sizing product do you use?
It's called "Mary Ellen's Best Press" Lavender Fields. Note-if you are looking for traditional starch that gives a stiff finish, this is not that!! :)
I don’t iron often but I find it meditative as well as shoveling snow and especially sweeping.

I will boast that mine is 40 ft long!
ahahaha! Well...as they say, size does matter!!!
Seriously...I am envious. Be careful, I may show up on your doorstep with my freshly laundered linens.... :)
Yes, you def need a clothesline!!
Right???

Cleaning house will never be my jam either! But I do love my clothesline - hanging things out to dry. I just don't bother to iron them afterwards.
As I said in the post...my ironing skills mean things are not perfect. My "crisp" white shirts are much less crispy these days!!!
